The largest part of its territory is extending into mid-latitudes with a remarkable part in the Arctic Ocean. The continent extends from east to west on nearly 176' longitude and from north to south on 69' latitudine. North America is bathed on the north by the Arctic Ocean, at east by the Atlantic Ocean, at the south by the Gulf of Mexico and to the west by the Pacific Ocean. North America include the following countries: Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Greenland, Grenada, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago and United States of America.
The continent's area is about 23.5 million square kilometers. The contour of North and Central America is extremely irregular. The mainland has three large bays: the Hudson Bay, Gulf of Mexico and the Gulf of Alaska.
In the north is forming two large peninsulas, Labrador and Alaska and a huge archipelago, the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. The main islands are Baffin, Victoria and Ellesmere. Another important island, the Newfoundland, lies in the south-eastern peninsula of Labrador. Altough the largest island in the region and also on the entire planet is Greenland with a surface area of over 2000000 sq. km.
