The
Disneyland Resort was founded as a single park by Walt Disney
on July 17, 1955, in Anaheim, California. In 2001, the area was officially named
the Disneyland Resort with the opening of Disney's California Adventure Park,
two new resort hotels and the Downtown Disney retail, dining and entertainment
district. The resort occupies 500 acres which are divided into parks, shopping
centers, and resorts.
There are more hotels designated as
Good Neighbor Hotels which
are either within walking distance or provide transportation to and from the
Disneyland Resort. Many other hotels and motels of varying cost and quality may
be found in the
local area. The Good Neighbor Hotels really are "neighbors" to the
Disneyland Resort. You can stay at one of this hotels and enjoy easy access to
the magic of both Disney Theme Parks and the exciting shopping, dining and entertainment
of the Downtown
Disney District.
